What is being injected?

The various ingredients used in lipodissolve may vary depending on the physician and the area being treated. The active ingredients for lipo-dissolve are:

  • Phosphatidyl choline (PC)- a naturally occurring substance within the human body that makes up 60% of cell membranes. PC is commonly derived from soy lecithin.
  • Deoxycholic Acid (DC)- also found in the human body as bile salt that functions to help digest and breakdown fat in the diet.
  • Benzyl Alcohol- used as a antimicrobial and preservative in the solution.

How does it work?

The natural PCDC solution is injected which disrupts the fat cell membrane. The fat cells burst and start to die off. This triggers the immune system to activate cells called macrophages to migrate to the area and start the clean up process. It is the inflammation from this process that causes redness, soreness, and swelling. Lastly, new collagen is produced causing the skin to become firm and tighten up. The cellular and fat debris are removed and collected as waste and removed from the body through normal routes of elimination (feces and urine).

2. The fat cells absorb the PCDC and become slightly inflamed, then harden.

3. The hardened cells break down and within a few weeks they are excreted through the body.

4. Micro injections of PCDC to the desired treatment area dissolve the unwanted fat cells.
